Police recover LD$367,600, single barrel gun and knife; second man arrested for harbouring suspect

The Liberia National Police in Gbarpolu County have arrested a suspect in connection with a brazen armed robbery attack that left an 18-year-old Guinean businessman in critical condition in Gungbeta, District #2.
According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 22, 2026, at approximately 3:00 AM. The victim, Mohammed Jalloh, was attacked in his shop by an unidentified assailant armed with a single barrel gun and a knife.
Witnesses recounted that the attacker attempted to rob Jalloh of his money and other valuables, but a violent struggle ensued during which the victim was stabbed and shot multiple times.
Jalloh was rushed to the Emirates Medical Hospital in Gbarpolu, where medical authorities report he remains in critical condition.
Following the attack, police officers and community members launched an immediate manhunt, leading to the arrest of suspect Jerry Kollie, 33. Authorities say they recovered LD$367,600 in cash, a single barrel pistol, and a knife from the suspect.
In a related development, police also arrested John Blamah, 54, who is accused of harbouring Kollie after the attack.
Both suspects, along with the evidence, have been turned over to the Crime Services Division in Gbarpolu for further investigation.
The LNP confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
