47-year-old Victor Kopeh pronounced dead at Karloken Health Center; authorities arrest taxi driver as police probe the tragic evening crash that sent two victims to Harper for emergency care.

WEBBO KONOWROKEN, River Gee County — A quiet Friday evening turned to tragedy in River Gee County as a collision between a taxi and a motorcycle claimed one life and left two others fighting for theirs, local authorities have confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Victor Kopeh, who was pronounced dead by health workers at the Karloken Health Center following the accident, which occurred on the evening of Friday, July 31.
According to eyewitness accounts, the motorcycle operated by Vasco Valentine and carrying Kopeh alongside Joe Copeland was traveling from New Town to Old Town when it collided with a taxi driven by Abel P. George.
The impact of the collision instantly claimed the life of Victor Kopeh, while the motorcycle rider, Vasco Valentine, and passenger Joe Copeland sustained critical injuries. The two injured victims were initially rushed to the Karloken Health Center before being referred to J.J. Dossen Hospital in Harper, Maryland County, for further medical treatment due to the severity of their wounds.
In the wake of the tragedy, the Liberia National Police has launched a full investigation into the incident. Both the taxi and the motorcycle have been impounded, while taxi driver Abel P. George has been arrested and remains in police custody pending the outcome of the inquiry.
Following funeral services, Victor Kopeh has since been laid to rest in his hometown.
