Ambassador Yin Chengwu and Top Liberian Officials, Including Unity Party Chairman Tarpeh, Unite to Celebrate Capacity Building Milestone

MONROVIA — More than 100 dignitaries and trainees gathered on August 12 as Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu hosted a grand reception for Liberian participants of China’s human resources training programs, an event that underscored the deepening bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The gathering was attended by high-profile guests including Hon. Dr. J. Luther Tarpeh, National Chairman of the Unity Party, and Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Nyei, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside representatives of the trainees.

In his address, Ambassador Yin described China’s human resources program as “a major driver of shared development, a great channel for people-to-people exchange, and an important measure for implementing the Global Development Initiative and advancing the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.”

The Ambassador noted that over the years, China has trained many talented individuals for Liberia, expressing his hope that the trainees would study hard, contribute to Liberia’s development, and serve as ambassadors of China-Liberia friendship.

Responding on behalf of the Liberian government and political leadership, Chairman Tarpeh and Deputy Minister Nyei highly praised China’s long-standing support for Liberia’s capacity building and expressed deep appreciation for the training programs China has provided across various fields.

They noted that the programs offer valuable opportunities for Liberia to learn from China’s development experience and took the opportunity to reaffirm Liberia’s firm adherence to the one-China principle.

Representatives of the trainees also expressed heartfelt appreciation for the training opportunities, pledging to apply the knowledge and skills gained through the programs to their work and make practical contributions to Liberia’s national development.

The reception served as a powerful testament to the enduring partnership between Liberia and China, grounded in mutual respect, shared development goals, and a commitment to building human capital for the future.
