Monrovia, Liberia — Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon has reaffirmed the Legislature’s unwavering commitment to promoting national unity, cultural diplomacy, youth empowerment, and international cooperation, as he addressed dignitaries during the presentation of the International and National Categories of the 16th Golden Image Awards.
Delivering remarks before Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, members of the Cabinet, the National Legislature, members of the Diplomatic Corps, development partners, distinguished international guests, and award recipients, Speaker Koon described the Golden Image Awards as an important national institution that celebrates excellence, selfless service, peace, leadership, innovation, and humanity.
“It is a profound honour and privilege to join you this evening as we celebrate the 16th Edition of the Golden Image Awards an occasion that recognizes excellence, selfless service, and the enduring values of peace, leadership, innovation, and humanity,” Speaker Koon stated.
He noted that the event serves as a fitting tribute to exceptional individuals and institutions from across the world whose contributions have transformed lives, strengthened communities, promoted international cooperation, and inspired hope beyond national borders.
Speaking on behalf of the National Legislature, Speaker Koon extended heartfelt congratulations to all international and national award recipients, describing their achievements as worthy of global recognition and a source of inspiration for future generations.
The Speaker also commended the National Secretariat of the Golden Image Awards and the Liberia Crusaders for Peace for successfully sustaining the prestigious awards program for sixteen consecutive years.
He praised the organizers for creating a credible platform that continues to elevate Liberia’s international image while fostering stronger engagement with the global community.
Speaker Koon paid tribute to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. for his steadfast leadership and commitment to peace, national unity, and inclusive development.

He equally acknowledged Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung for his continued support of the initiative and his dedication to promoting responsible leadership and national progress.
Addressing the Liberian people, the Speaker emphasized that the country’s peace remains its greatest national asset, noting that it was achieved through sacrifice, reconciliation, resilience, and the collective determination of the Liberian people.
He called on all citizens to continue safeguarding the nation’s peace, stressing that sustainable development, investment, and prosperity can only flourish in an atmosphere of stability and unity.
Reaffirming the role of the Legislature, Speaker Koon pledged continued support for initiatives that promote peacebuilding, national cohesion, cultural diplomacy, and youth development.
He further advocated for sustained budgetary support to strengthen the Golden Image Awards as a nationally recognized platform that projects Liberia positively on the international
stage.
“The Golden Image Awards has become an important national institution worthy of continued encouragement and sustainable budgetary support, enabling it to grow into an even stronger platform for promoting Liberia on the global stage,” he emphasized.
As part of the ceremony, Speaker Koon had the distinct honour of presenting the 2026 Golden Image Awards in the International Categories to deserving recipients, describing the awards as enduring symbols of appreciation for outstanding service to humanity and global development.
The Speaker concluded by congratulating all honourees and invoking God’s continued blessings upon the Republic of Liberia and all nations represented at the ceremony.
